Welcome to Ridgefield Baptist Church. We are so glad you have inquired about church membership at RBC. This is a great step that you’ve taken. The New Testament envisions that every Christian be a part of a local church. We are looking forward to having you as part of the church in an even more meaningful way.
And it’s an incredible thing to think about a local church – not from the world’s perspective – but God’s. In today’s world, gospel-preaching churches may seem small and maybe even culturally insignificant. But from God’s eternal perspective, the biggest, most relevant, significant thing taking place on the planet is happening in the local church.
After talking about God’s work in the church, Paul says, “To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:21). What is happening in local churches in both Paul’s time and ours, is going to echo and reverberate into and throughout eternity in a profound way.
When we look at this from God’s perspective, church membership is a truly great step to take.
Process
Our membership process consists of two simple but important steps:
- A “Getting to Know RBC” class
- A meeting with the elders.
We have broken down the class into five bite-sized portions. Each of the five parts is a short video (couple of minutes) and an article that talks about an important Christian topic.
- What is a Christian and how does a person become one?
- What about Baptism?
- How can I experience healthy Christian growth?
- Why Church Membership?
- What are the marks of a healthy church and healthy church member?
We would like to send you one class per day, via email, over the next six days. The class are not overwhelming, but bite sized. Each begins with a short video followed up by reading.
Once you have been through the classes, the elders look forward to meeting with you, where we can get to know you better, answer any questions that you may have, and share some of the vision and mission of RBC. From there, Lord willing, we look forward to sharing the good news of your membership with the church family.
If you have any questions or comments along the way, please don’t hesitate to connect with the church office, and an elder will respond to you.
